The Radiance of Being: Awakening Unconditioned Awareness
May 30 – Jun 6
Led by Vasumitra
True freedom comes when every speck of the known collapses into the unknown, not just for a moment but continually.Through contact with the pure, unconditioned dimension of existence, our conditioning loses its power to distort our experience and cause suffering. Unconditioned awareness infuses conditioned mind like a sweet perfume or a soothing breeze. It's a pure, unfabricated, unmanipulated content-less awareness within which everything arises just as it does. Discussion, just sitting and silence.
Entering Pure Awareness
June 27 – July 4
Led by Tejananda
Entering pure awareness is the simplest - and the most challenging – of meditation practices. A 'formless' meditation, it just involves 'letting go' into our direct body and mind experience - letting go of past, future and present - simply being in the timeless moment, open to the clear, sky-like nature of mind itself. A thorough practical introduction to the practice will be given, followed by an intensive five-day silent sesshin. Suitable for those with at least one year of regular meditation practice. Tejananda, from Vajraloka Meditation Centre, will lead this retreat.
The Embodied Mind
October 3 - 10
Led by Paramananda
Meditation offers us the opportunity to develop a sense of intimacy and care towards ourselves, as we are in each moment. Along with sitting meditation we will do simple bodywork and reflective exercises to awaken our imagination through which we find connection to the world. Led by Paramananda who has been teaching meditation for over twenty years in Britain and the USA. He is the author of "Change your Mind', a popular book on meditation.
“The longer I teach the more I feel that meditation is a natural and very simple practice, in its essence it is just sitting with ourselves in an open hearted way.”
Recognising our True Nature
October 10 - 17
Led by David Smith
During this weeklong retreat we will explore together the innate non-attached nature of our true self or dharmamind. Through the utter simplicity of the “nature of mind” practice we are led to awakening to our true nature, and liberation from suffering and the wheel of birth and death. David Smith is the leader of the DharmaMind Buddhist Group based in Birmingham UK and leads retreats both in the UK and abroad. He is also author of 3 books on dharma practice and understanding.
