padmasambhava and the heart of awakening
A 19 year old art student stumbled upon Buddhism in 1982, packed her bags, moved to London and became fully involved in Buddhist community life.
In 1990 she was ordained as Vimalachitta and for 13 years worked full-time for the London Buddhist Centre, first as Meditation/Dharma teacher and then as women's mitra convenor.
Vimalachitta is now a trainer in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and leads courses in Mindful Presence (relational mindfulness) and Mindful Compassion in secular settings, as well as continuing to run retreats within Triratna.
Regulars - Meditation, Triratna
These retreats are for people who are already practicing within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. Previous experience of the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditations and of the 7-fold Puja will be assumed.
These retreats will also be conducted mostly in silence, and will normally have between 5 and 7 hours a day of sitting meditation.
The retreat will draw on the inspiration of Padmasambhava, Tantric Guru, who was invited to Tibet to transform the deeper, more unruly forces of the mind. Through meditation, silence and ritual we will explore the ‘Heart of Awakening’ practice which he taught.
